I cannot find a birth record for William George Joseph Thornhill born c. 1910 - March 31st 1911 to William Quayle Thornhill and Margaret Reynolds.
William is listed on the 1911 Census as their son at house 18, Baldwin St, Mitchelstown Cork.
William Quayle and Margaret were married in 1903 in Douglas, Co Cork. Willaim's occupation was Auctioneer and rate Collector.
I've found the records for two of the children Catherine Mary Monica (b 1904) and John George (b 1905) on the National archives website.
I've searched for records on FindmyPast, but there was no records found there either for William.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you
PS William Qualye is my 1st cousin 4 times removed

Margaret:
The 1911 census shows he was one month old when the census was taken on March 31 1911 so likely born in February 1911. I think it is likely that the parents did not register the birth for whatever reason. I did a number of searches and did not find the record and it appears there were no birth records for any children after William. From your understanding was William the youngest child?

Link to 1911 census page: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002011000/
William's second name looks to be something like Gerard, not George. His brother's second name is George. If you compare the two second names, they are different.

Hello Roger and Patricia,
A very Happy New Year to you both and I certainly hope that it is kinder to every-one than 2021 has been.
Many thanks for your responses. Roger, I don't know if William was the last born child to William and Margaret. I did wonder if he had died within a few hours/days of birth and that would explain why his birth wasn't registered especially given the registration of their older children.
Patricia, I did take a closer look at the census transcript and agree with you that William's middle name is Gerard and not George as transcribed.
Once again many thanks for your fast responses, I really do appreciate your assistance.

May not be your William but I have found a record of a marriage of William Thornhill to a Mary Hanly on 19/2/1928 in Church of St Michael Limerick where his father is listed as William (deceased) with occupation being Auctioneer. Also a record of Catherine 's marriage to William Warner on 14/2/1938 in Dublin.
Kind regards

Thank you Margaret for your research. Yes I have Catherine as marrying William Warner in 1938, but not William marrying in 1928. However, that would make him under 21 if as the 1911 Census indicates he was only one month old. The other confounding factor is I cannot find a death record for William Quayle between 1911 and 1970 and Catherine's marriage record does not indciate that William Q was dead. All the death records for William Thornhill between 1911 and 1970 do not list any William as an auctioneer. So the puzzle continues.
Your help is very much appreciated and I wish you a very happy new year.
