I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located a February 1 1824 baptismal record for a Christopher Oats father John Oats mother Helen Kennedy RC parish Carrick on Suir.

I also found a December 14 1798 baptismal record for an Ellen Kennedy in Carrick on Suir father Michael Kennedy mother Honora Kelly. I did not find a record for John Oates.

Hello, I too am looking for Oates in Ireland. It is believed my great-great grandparents came to the United States from Ireland. I am attempting to trace now with minimal information.

Hi Kate, I have John Patrick Oates from Carrick on Suir, Tipperary to Australia in 1841. He is my 3rd great grandfather and I have his parents as Johnathon Oates and Eleanor Kennedy.
