I cannot find the parish/county my great grandfather came from. I know he was married in about 1846/1848 to Ellen Clark. Any help will be appreciated.

The only marriage I located for a Patrick Murray and Ellen Clark was in 1877 in Co. Monaghan. I did not find any baptismal records for children of a couple with those names.

Did they emigrate? I assume you do not have any information on parents names.

  • Thank you Roger for searching. He emigrated to Argentina, arriving at Buenos AIres on January 29th, 1849. He came with his wife, Ellen Clark and one daughter, Mary whom I assume must have been born in 1848. In a census in 1869 he declared he was 45 and Ellen 39 years old. At a birth of a child in 1864 he declared he was 40 and his wife 38. When he died in 1884 he was declared to be 75 and when Ellen died in 1874 she was 45, so I don¨t have an accurate year of birth for any of them. I also tried finding Mary{s birth but haven¨t been able to find anything.

But I really appreciate the time and effort you dedicated.

The surnames Murray and Clark(e) were/are very common in Ireland which will complicate your search. Have you considered a DNA test? You may get matches which might provide some clues on the origins of your family in Ireland.
