My great grandfather, Owen Ward, born in 1825/6, had two brothers. Patrick, born in 1819, and Thomas, born in 1828. He also had two sisters. Bridget Margaret, born in 1799, and Margaret, born in 1816. I think they were born in and about County Galway, but I'm not sure. I can't seem to break this wall. I need to confirm their birth dates, places, parents, and history

  • Hi, Can you give a little more info about the family?

Is it true Bridget was 29 years older than her brother Thomas?

    Who did Owen marry? where?

What were the names of the brothers' children? The name of the oldest son is generally the name the paternal grandfather, so knowing it might help identify Owen in a baptismal record.

  • Owen Ward was born in 1825, in County Galway (I think). In 1864, he married Ellen McDonnell, where he farmed 160 acres in Belle Creek, Minnesota. His oldest son was Michael Clarence, born on 15 June, 1867. He died on 21 January, 1891 in Montrose, South Dakota.

Patrick Ward was born in 1819, in Ireland. He died on 20 January, 1893, in Goodhue, Minnesota. His wife was Ellen Cassidy, born in 1822, in County Galway. She died on 13 October, 1872, in Goodhue, Minnesota.

Bridget Margaret "Biddy" Ward was born in 1800, in Kilkerin Parish, County Galway. She was married to a William Igoe, and died on 11 June, 1886, in Goodhue, Minnesota.

Thomas Ward was born in 1828, in Ireland. He never married, and died on 11December, 1886, sharing a grave with his sister, Margaret, and her husband, Patrick Drudy, in Goodhue, Minnesota.
