Hi everyone, I'm visiting Ireland for 1st time in Sept. and I'm looking for information on my 3x grandmother Rose O'Hara born around 1820 parish Kilmacteige. Any siblings/parents? I can't locate marriage documentation for Rose O'Hara who married Martin Leonard sometime before 1847. Rose & Martin both from parish Achonry or Cladagh, Sligo & parish Tourlestrane. They had 5 children Daniel, John, Peter, Martin J & Mary.

I'm also looking for any information on Mary Leonard Howley born 1837 in Roscommon, Sligo. Any siblings/parents?  She married James Howley in 1854 in Kilmacteige. He was born 1841. They had a daughter Winifred in 1857 Tourlestrane and she married Martin J Leonard I believe in 1888 in Sligo but can't verify with records. Winifred had a sister Bridget born 1855 & brother John born 1872.

Both Winifred and Martin J immigrated to San Francisco in the late 1880's and had a large beautiful family. If possible, I'd like to visit churches, cemeteries & the towns where my relatives lives. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

The baptismal records for Kilmacteige/Toulestrane parish start in 1845 and marriages in 1848 so a record of the marriage of Rose and Martin would not be available. Civil registration of RC marriages started in 1864.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located baptismal records for Peter September 29 1850 Martin June 12 1853 Mary March 9 1856  I did not locate the records for Daniel and John. As you indicated the family lived in Claddagh townland in Kilmacteige civil parish.

Regarding the Mary Leonard/James Howley family, I saw the baptismal record for Winifred and a sister Mary in 1861 but did not see the records for Bridget and John. This family lived in Belclare townland in Kilmacteige civil parish. Belclare is three miles west of Claddagh.

I did not locate the marriage record for Winifred Howley and Martin Leonard. The only Winifred Howley marriage in Kilmacteige was to a Francis Gallagher on February 9 1884.

Here is the web site for the Kilmacteige/Toulestrane parish http://www.kilmactigueparish.com/
