:-( Sadly the past posts I have written do not look to be acknowledged. I hope I am doing this correctly.

I would be so grateful for information on

* Parents, Thomas and Winifred, both I believe born 1838, Catholic I believe. Had 9 children and lived apx 1858-1875 in Ballinasloe. Thomas was a baker and Winifred maiden name was FLYNN and her family possibly from AUGRIM.

* Mary Anne Fitzpatrick b: 4 June 1859. (I think she was their second daughter-John 1st, was my grt-grt grandfather)
Married John Quinn
The best US census match I have found that could possible be them is:
married apx 1877 in Ireland
daughters Anna b:Dec 1877 and Elizabeth b:Mar 1880
All 4 arrived in Pittsburgh, PA, USA 1883

Any help is a blessing. I am sooo stuck!

Thank you,

Suzie Fitzpatrick-Amrhein

You are posting correctly. There are a small number of volunteers who read these posts and try to help those who leave messages. Only about 45% of the messages get some kind of reply. In many cases, there is not enough information to help the enquirer or they are asking about family members who go back to the early 19th century or earlier and there are very few records from that time period.

I've been looking at your Fitzpatricks and Quinns primarily at www.familysearch.org  but also on a pay site www.findmypast.ie  I located baptismal index records for three of the Fitzpatrick children (Thomas, Winifred and Elizabeth Ann) but no other records. I could not locate a marriage index record for John Quinn and Mary Anne Fitzpatrick or birth index records for Anna or Elizabeth in Co. Galway. I'm wondering if they were in another county.

One question: Did Thomas Fitzpatrick and Winnifred emigrate around 1875 or did they stay in Ireland?

  • Thanks Rodger for taking the time to look for me. I have looked on family search and I'm a member of ancestry.com...I am not a member of find my past...I thank you for checking that site for me. I do have the information on the siblings you mentioned. They did leave Ireland after Thomas Henry was born in 1874 and show up again in Manchester, England on the 1881c but not my great great grandfather John Fitzpatrick b:1858

My father has been to Ireland and Mary McLaughlin found us a gift of information...Sadly we cannot go beyond this one family. But I feel truly blessed...because my Dad and his siblings had no known roots. Grandfather died when my Dad was about 6 and his grandfather put HIS Dad in an orphanage when he was was also about 6 since his Mom died giving birth to his sister and they had only been in US for a few years....two sad generations that Mary brought some closure.

I guess I will go try to find information on my grandmother's Irish roots...This one seems to have ended here.

Sincere thanks to you and all the volunteers, for your time.
