I have a copy of a letter that was read @ the "first Quinn reunion" in 1921.  It says the Denis QUINN was born around 1774-1776 in Barnane Tipperary.  He was married to a Margaret KENNEDY.  They had the following children:

John (1820-?)( married Johanna GALAVERN)

Michael(?-?) (married Mary BOYLE)

William (1815-1883) (married Ellen SLATTERY)

Dennis (1835?-1877) (married Ellen FLYNN)*

Mary (1830-1910) (married Michael CLARK)

Nellie (?-?)( married Denis QUINLAND)

Margaret (?-?) (married Patrick MADDEN)

Anne (1839-?) (married Patrick McBRIDE)

Bridget (1835-1923) (married James McEVOY)**

*Dennis & Ellen were my 2nd great grandparents

Denis lived until 1878, making him one of the oldest residents around Alliance, OHIO(103-104 yrs, old) @time of death.  **The letter further states that Bridget was the only living survivor of the above at the time of the reunion(1921) Her father, Denis, had tilled the soil, & broke horses on the estate of Mr. Carden.  The lease to the property had been held for over 3 generations.  The last to come to the U.S. were Denis, Dennis, Bridget & a Denis Quinlan. Although I have this info, I have nothing on Margaret KENNEDY, nor a possible 10th child.

  • Thank you for your query.  I have come across some info regarding Denis's wife.  Although I think her name was Margaret KENNEDY, she has been called Bridget KENNEDY on some sites.  I guess that I would be interested in any info regarding her.  I have nothing on her birth or death dates, background, etc.  As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem as though she ever came to the States.  I guess I'm assuming that perhaps she had died in Ireland???

There was also indication that there was another child, but I don't have any information regarding that child's birth/death.

I guess I just wanted to be able to "fill in the blanks" with regard to Denis's marriage date, Margaret KENNEDY's birth and death dates, locations, and the possible 10th child.  Although the letter I received from an uncle was most enlightening, there were still some nagging questions.

Again, thank you for responding.  I do so appreciate it!

    Sincerely,

    Leslie Swift
