Hi everyone
I am looking to try and arrange access to view post 1880 RC records for Donegal parishes.
The Roots Ireland website has some however I note that most of the large parishes are missing from their list.
John Grenham's site seems to suggest they are held with the LDS yet the LDS say they are in the individual churches.
Does anyone know for sure where church records post 1880 are located?
Appreciate any assistance, thanks all.

Are their particular parishes you are looking for when you indicate large parishes? Roots Ireland has records to either 1899 or 1900 for most parishes. Beyond that you would have to go to the local church. I assume you know that the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has civil birth records thru 1921, marriages thru 1946 and deaths thru 1971.
The LDS info on John Grenham's site shows they have records for many parishes up to 1911-1912 and some parishes Glencolumbkille (1923) and Letterkenny (1950) go further. https://johngrenham.com/records/county_church_full.php?county=Donegal&s…

Many thanks for the reply Roger.
The RC parishes I'm looking for are: Inishkeel, Templecrone, Gartan, Tullahhobegley and Lettermacaward.
Unfortunately, Roots Ireland doesn't have these RC parishes listed.
I have checked the civil records and my ancestors do not appear there. From what I gather, they were not the type who would have registered with the authorities.

Well I learned a little bit about Co. Donegal RC records. Roots Ireland only has records for Gartan/Termon parish up to 1899. No records for Glenties/Inishkeel RC parish and no records for Templecrone/Dungloe/Lettermacward RC parish. So you will have to contact the local parishes unless the Family History folks have records. https://www.raphoediocese.ie/parish/

Thanks very much for that Roger, nice one. I don't suppose you know if parishes are generally receptive to their records being viewed? I intend to make donations to each and would of course treat the material with the utmost care and respect.
