Dear Halfpint:
Thank you for your post to the message board.
Christopher Morrison had a number of other siblings noted as follows below:
1. Martin 10 June 1869
2. Ellen 5 October 1873
3. Sarah 16 March 1876
4. Anne 14 November 1879.
Their births should all be listed on the Irish Genealogy website as the dates are post 1864 which is when civil registration began.
The website link is here: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
This may be the Anne above: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Doon_South/Gortnagarde/1514793/
This may be Patrick & Catherine (Kate):http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Doon_South/Gortnagarde/1514794/
I will also copy this post to a few Limerick volunteers and Tipperary volunteers (as Cappagh is on the border of both counties) to see what they might be able to add to this post.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
The best of luck!
Kind regards,
Jane

Hello thanks for details above what's the difference between a church and civil baptism only noticed
Mary 1865 (church Co limerick) baptised 17 aug
Catherine 1867 (church Co limerick) baptised 7 April 1867
Ellen 5 Oct 1873 (civil baptism Co tipperary
Martin 10 June 1869 (co tipperary
Sarah 16 March 1876 (church Co limerick
Anne 14 nov 1879 co tipperary (civil)
John 22 June 1883 co limerick
but on one census it does show a Margaret born I think 1883
it also says Christopher and Catherine Morrison moved back and forward from limerick to tipperary so is this why 4 of them are in limerick ive seen a few of the above children on civil records but unfortunately can't read the writing

Hi Alana:
The area that the Morissons lived in was very close to the Limerick border which is why you may be seeing some records from Limerick and some from Tipperary. This can cause some confusion and you are absolutely correct to look at both places for any information. For your reference, here is the link to the map which is on the NLI website and which shows that Cappagh (Also known as Cappawhite) is straddling the two counties.

Also the church baptism records are church records and they contain baptismal sponsors which can often be other family members of either parent. The civil records contain information including the mother's maiden name, occupation of the father, residence and the person who registered the birth (not always a parent).
I will follow up with one of the local volunteers as they would be in a better position to reply to your query.
All the best,
Jane
