Hello All!
I am looking for any information regarding the Goodison family. William Goodison (1814-1898) was born in County Wexford. He married Mary Ann Hopkins (1817-1899) who was born (I think) in County Wicklow. Their son, John Goodison was born April 12, 1849 in Wexford (some records indicate Wicklow). My records show that John was baptized May 4, 1849 in the diocese of Kildare and Leighlin (Ireland Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915).
I believe that William Goodison's parents were William (1787-1855) and Margaret May (1797-1867). I have no other information about them. I believe Mary Ann Hopkins was the daughter of James Hopkins (1795-1866) and Mary Willis (1797-1817). Both from Wicklow.
The Goodisons left for Canada in 1857 and settled outside of Toronto. John was my great-great grandfather. He ultimately settled in Sarnia, Ontario and was the owned the John Goodison Thresher Company.
Does anyone have any information about my Irish ancestors while they were still in Ireland? I would appreciate any pointers or tips!
