Rhatigan/Rattigan

There were a number of Rattigan families in the Addergoole area, christian name James was very popular. Can you be more specific on your family as there are quite legible Birth/ Marriage records for Dunmore 1833 onwards. It may help other families link up.

I know my grandfather, Thomas Francis Rattigan/Rhatigan has records from Bawnmore. His father was Patrick Rhatigan 1851-1936 and what I am fairly sure leads to Thomas Rhatigan 1838-1912.  -  Patrick Rhatigan 1851-1936 married Catherine "Kate" Hobin (Hoban). 

- Thomas Rhatigan married Catherine Connor

It appears that Thomas Rhatigan's father was James Rhatigan 1811 - 1857 and he was married to Mary Glynn (I think). Three children that I have record of (Mary, Catherine and Bridget)

I have the documents of the land purchase of Bawnmore by Patrick Rhatigan in 1890's. The land is still in the family, Helena "Lena" Rhatigan.

According to your notes Thomas Rhatigan 1838 would have been 13 years old when his Son Patrick was born!

Patrick's marriage certificate indicates he was from neighbouring townland of Knock.

                +Mary Begley      b: Abt. 1815                        

                               2              Michael Rattigan b: 24.9.1843 in Knock                       

                               2              Patrick Rattigan   b: 1851 in Knock                 d: Bawnmore 26.11.1936 (John Rattigan, Grandson present)

                                              +Catherine Hoban              b: 1861 in Bawnmore         m: 20.5.1879 in Milltown (1911, 12 Born 11 alive) (Wits: Martin Rattigan)

See attached, appears there was already a Rattigan family in Bawnmore. John Rattigan married Mary Rattigan who also had a Brother John Rattigan.
