I was wondering if someone during their visit to the National Archives in Bishop Street, Dublin could do a lookup of the School registers for Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick and Duagh, Co Kerry for me. I believe there are only hard copy of the records of School Registers currently.

The two children I wish to find out about are:

  1. Michael Collins Baptised 22 Apr 1856, Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, Ireland
  2. Johannah Collins baptised 14 Jan 1854, Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, Ireland

Their parents Thomas Collins (Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick) and Anna Lane (Duagh, Co Kerry) arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on the “Albion” on 13 September 1858. Their infant son, Patrick died during the voyage.

Michael (8 years old) and Johannah (9 years) stayed in Ireland and were not reunited with their parents until June 1863 when their ship “Bates Family” arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They travelled with Sarah Collins, 20 years of age.  I assume they lived with grandparents or their parents’ siblings. I don’t know if they were living in Abbeyfeale with Collins relatives or living in Duagh with Lane relatives.

I am keen to find out:

  1. Who looked after them after their parents left? Names.
  2. The location where they lived?
  3. Who is Sarah Collins? I have not been able to identify what happened to her once she arrived in Australia.

  • I'm not sure why either of you - Tom Hendricks and HuerswaNaserta - bothered to respond to my post as neither of you answered my question. In Australia,

    we would call you a Smart arse. BTW I don't need to refer to a website to help me write a post or an essay as I have a Master Degree from a world renowned Australian University.

  • I don't know what we would have done without such services as they save us a lot of time and energy. The writing was never my strong point, so I always looked for some tool to help me to write my essay perfectly in order to get the highest marks.
