Hello and Good evening/morning/afternoon I am trying to trace my family on my father’s side.. His name was Douglas Carroll, born around 1920 – 1940.. He married my mother Dorothy Thelma Jackson in 1964. I was born to them on the 30/08/1963 my full birth name is Jayne Susan Carroll I am led to believe that my grandfather was the Mayor of Dublin (Independent Party) around 1957 – 1965. I believe that he was alive from 29/03/1907 to 30/07/1973 age 66 yrs. In his time it is believed that he also went over to New York and plastered the inside of the Empire State Building. Douglas had a brother Aiden (Aidan Carroll (26 January 1930 – 24 April 1979) an Irish politician who served as a Dublin City Councillor from 13th June 1960 to 12th June 1967. His father was Daniel Carroll (originally from 16, Windsor Terrace, Portobello, Dublin) and his mother was Elizabeth (nee O'Leary) from Oulart Co. Wexford) .I am now a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 4.. I believe that they should know their Irish side of the family.. According to the above piece their father was Daniel Carroll
There was a James Carroll in office as mayor of Dublin between 1957/1958 it seems to be an older brother of Aidan and Douglas who was the mayor of Dublin and not their father.
Aidan grew up in Rathmines (25, Church Gardens) where he was the eldest of 7 children. He had six sisters. Aidan and his sisters were the second family of Daniel Carroll who remarried after his wife died in 1927. Daniel had 6 sons from his 1st marriage. ( One died at childbirth ). Aidan's older brother James Carroll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Carroll_(Dublin_politician) was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1957.
Is it possible that Douglas was one of Daniels children out of the first marriage ?
The problem is that the records might not be available yet as they become available 100 years after the birth of a person, also to protect peoples privacy we have to be carefull posting information about persons who are possibly still alive.

Hello Shelagh, Annemaire and Jayne Susan My name Caitriona, my Grandfather was Daniel Carroll, Aidan was my uncle the only son of my Grandfathers second family with Elizabeth nee Leary. I think Jayne you might be a little mixed up , James was son of Daniel , James was Lord Mayor 1957-1958. Could James be your Grandfather, father of Douglas? I would love to talk to you ladies, my Mom is alive, along with 3 of her sisters, Aidan was her only brother but she had 6 stepbrothers. Caitriona
