Hi! I am trying to find my great grandfather, Edmund Barry's baptismal records. He was born in 1850 and emigrated to the United States in 1873 or 1874 (according to US census's). There were several Barry's living in Allegany County MARYLAND that came from Rathcormac. My ancestry DNA results show my ancestors to be from Munster, Cork area and also Leitrim.  I would love to find Edmund's parents and siblings. He also went by the name Edward on some of the Maryland census's. He married Mary White in Frostburg MD. Her parents also emigrated from Ireland (Maurice White and Mary Holmes). Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

    I looked up your ggrandfather on several data bases (Irish genealogy.ie, Roots Ireland and Ancestry) and also his wife's parents. Maurice White and Mary Holmes and found nothing. I believe you need to know a little more about the place they came from before the searches will help.

    I suggest looking at all the US records you can find. Often on the emigration certs or ships manifesto or death and marriage certs you will finsd a vital clue. There are many Edmund Barrys born around Fermoy -Cloyne- Middleton area in the decade he was born but without a clue as to his parish or townland  or his parents names it will be difficult to identify him in the records.

    Hi Katie,

    so far I have not fouynd any definite news about Edmund but I believe I have found Mary White's Parents Marriage in Midleton Co. Cork. (attached) I will continue to look for Mary White Baptism and for Edmund.Barry. Where did you get the information on Edmunds year of birth/Baptism. and have you got any record of his marriuage as generally the fathers of both are mentioned on the marriage document.
