Hi, our George William McGill was born 5 May 1821 in the District of Stradbally and one of his sons George Richard McGill was born in Dublin in 855 and arrived into Australia sometime before 1879. Perhaps James and William were related. Do you know where the family went to after Ireland, or are they still there.Regards Jan

Hi,
My William(son of James McGill) does have a brother, George, but his DOB from my information is 1828(I know DOB can vary). My McGils came to Canada and some stayed in Quebec, but my lineage went to the US. John McGill(William's son) went to Louisana, fought in the Civil War, and then eventually moved north to Michigan(likely he lost his lands and possessions in the Civil War.) He and his family settled in Monroe(south of Detroit) and that is where my great grandfather, John McGill was born.
Maybe they are related I am not sure since I only recently found the information regarding Donegal and I am waiting to hear back from someone regarding their sources. The other McGills are listed as being born in Ireland but no specifics.
I appreciate your message and maybe we can figure it out.

I am sorry for the errors in my message, Jan. I am in the US in Michigan just about 90 minutes north of Monroe where my ancestors settled.
I would love to talk to you more!
Thanks,
Dawn
