Searching for Geraghtys

I found the birth index record for Florence. They were living in Dublin.If you want a copy of this record, you can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie  fill out their form and provide the quarter/year of birth, registration district (Dublin South) and the volume and page number ( 2 and 640). Costs 4 euros.

I checked the 1901 Irish census and the Geraghtys were not in Ireland.

Hi Trisha,

If you go to www.irishgenealogy.ie  (free site)  you will find the registration for Florence Jane Geraghty born 16th April 1881 and registered 12 June 1881  from Beggars Bush Barracks, in Dublin  

As they seem to be protestants you may be able to trace further back in history as the records were so well kept.  Also as she was born at the Barracks then I assume her father was in the British Army.  They have records of all their employees going back years and years.

They were protestants, so I'm sure you have the correct family. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have this information. My grandmother died before I was born, so I never knew anything about her family. thankyou so very much!

I am trying to find information about my great grandmother, Annie Kelly; great grandfather, Martin Geraghty; and grandmother, Annie Mary Geraghty. 

Annie Kelly, born either in the 1840s or 50s or 60s, who we think married Martin Geraghty probably around 1880 (we have no solid information about him or where/when they married, but would love to learn).  She had three children in Ireland, Annie Mary Geraghty, born August 12, 1882; Richard Henry Geraghty born January 14, 1884; and William Joseph Geraghty, born January 21, 1888, We think Martin Geraghty might have died around 1888-1892 we have no solid evidence.

Annie Kelly and her three children, Annie, Richard, and William, immigrated to the United States and arrived in New York on April 3, 1889.

We think that Annie Mary and Richard were born somewhere in Roscommon.  We think William was born somewhere in Enniscorthy.

If you have any information about the above listed people, or can lead us to sources where we can research them, we would be extremely grateful.
