James and Christian (Hunter) Savage left ireland around 1718. Family history indicate they departed from Coleraine, Antrim, Ulster, Ireland. and established their home in Woolwich Maine. I have no firm evidence of where they were from in Ireland. They were in Boston in 1723. The names of their children are James, Issac, Jane, Catherine, and Sarah. There are two additional children, Daniel and Edward who were both born in Maine.

I believe that James was born around 1685 and he died in Maine in 1748. I believe that Christian was born around 1695 and died in Woolwich Maine (I am not sure of the date).

Christian may have been the sister of a Daniel Hunter who lso traveled to the colonies, and  she may have been born and married in Dublin.

  • I've been doing research on Thomas Savage and his descendents for several years and would be happy to share the information that I have been able to document. There is very little about Thomas in Ireland but lots about his family in Maine and Ohio.

  • Hello. I have just found out I descend from James Savage, born 1715 Coleraine, NI. died October 12 1805, Woolwich, Maine, USA. married Mary Lord Hilton

James' father was John James Savage born circa 1685, died cica September 1748 Nequasset, Maine, USA (killed by Native Americans) he was a sawmiller. married Christian Hunter

John James' father was James Savage born circa 1661 Denbighshire, Wales. died 1768 Newton, Maine, USA. he owned a bleachery. married Anna Young.

Any information about this family would be much appreciated. Not even sure if what i have posted is right, but this is the information i have found on Geni, without having to pay.

    Thankyou

  • Hello Lee, I am the person who made the initial request for information in 2012. I an interested in learning more about your Savage connection and how your ancestor/s arrived in New Zealand. I have not yet resolved the Ireland connection of the Savage family. My father was a Savage. James Savage (b 1715) was the father of Abraham (b1759) , married to Patience Young. Their son Joseph Lambert Savage (b1794)  married Susannah Williams. Their son Charles Woodbury (B 1826) is my GG Grandfather. I have a lot of Maine related information on the Savage family if you are interested. I can be reached via email at the following address if you wish to continue our conversation: sjhawley@sbcglobal.net.
