My great great grandfather Thomas King emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860's.
His father was Thomas King - listed as a mariner or marine pilot - possibly in the Crookhaven area and his mother was Mary Supple.
He had sisters Mary Ann (possible birth April 1835 in Crookhaven) and Margaret ( born circe 1837). There may also have been 2 other siblings - Richard & Katie.
The only Irish record traced so far is his adult RC baptism on 18 July 1851 West Schull/Goleen. He is estimated to have been born between 1840-1842 from later marriage and death records.
There are various records for a Thomas King (his father?) in Griffith Valuations and also a Mary Supple in Crookhaven.
Any assistance or advice re learning more of this family in Co Cork would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi David,
Soirry but no good news for you at present.
Because Thomas was baptised into the Catholic faith as an adult means that he was born into the Protestant faith. Protestant records in Ireland are very difficult to get as they have not been generally released for online availability and ar usually only available through the archiving system in Dublin and even then are difficult to access and it is not a free service.
I will contact you again in the next day or two with whatever detail I can find on access and may try to contact them myself to see if I can get any information for you. You may contact me on my personal email address frankfahy054@gmail.com of through this message board.

Hi Frank
Thanks for your interesting reply as I had not been aware of this protestant possibility before.
Both Thomas and his sisters all were involved in Catholic parishes once arriving in NZ.
If you dont mind I shall send you some more family details to your gmail a/c.
Once again thank you for your interest

Hi David,
Still have not had the time to do further research but promise I will soon as possible. In the meantime, have a look at ,my brothers website (free) westcorkgenealogy.com . Go to West Cork Families button and go to K on alphabetical bar. You will find a considerable number from various King Families there and may recognise some. You will also find an Eileen Supple there who was married to a Fahy but I do not think ther is any substantiated relationship between this Fahy & Supple and you and me but just put it in in order to mention Eileen T. Supple.
Please do send whatever you want to my email address frankfahy054@gmail.com and I will be happy to help if I can.
Stay safe & Well
