My great great grandfather was Michael William Shanahan. I have his baptismal certifcate from Holycross dated 14 Jan 1838. His parents were Thomas Henry Shanahan and Bridget Luby. They were married at Powerstown 13 Oct 1833. Thomas and Bridget both died during the great famine. Michael was raised by his Luby grandparents (at least that's what we think).
Michael William came to the US in Sept 1856.
I am seeking information about Shanahans from either County Tipperary or County Cork. There were 3 Thomas Shanahans born in 1805 in County Tipperary so I'm not sure which one is correct.
I have done multiple DNA tests and have several potential distant connections that point back to Ireland.
Thanks so much for information.
Jerry Burke (my father was adopted or I would be a Shanahan)
