I am trying to find information on Norah and Agnes Sheehan daughters of Nenagh Postman Daniel Sheehan and his wife Mary Ann (Rourke/O'Rourke). Agnes was born in 1903, Norah in 1896 in Nenagh.

I have all the rest of the family's details  but have been unable to find anything on the sisters other than birth records and the 1911 Census where Agnes is named as Frances. I have a photo of Mary Ann with 3 daughters, one is Kitty Sheehan so I presume the others are Agnes and Norah.

Any info on them would be much appreciated.

  • Sarah:

I searched for marriage and death records for Agnes and Norah on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie but did not see any records. While looking for those records, I did locate the death records for Daniel and Mary Anne which are below. On Mary Anne's record, the informant was her daughter Eileen Nalty from Aldershot England. Is Eileen Norah? Likely Agnes and Norah went to England.

  • Not sure if you know the couple had a son, James Sheehan, born 21-Dec-1905. You can see his birth record at irishgenealogy.ie or a transcription on rootsireland.ie.

  • Thank you both for your replies. I do have birth records for all the children born. They are : Mary Ann 1893-1906, Martin 1895-1938, Norah 1896, Ellen 1898-1963 (this is Eileen Nalty), Josephine 1899-1910, Catherine (married Michael Mohilly) 1901, Agnes 1903, and James 1905-1929. I have searched overseas to no avail. Will keep looking!

    Thanks

  • Sarah,

Why not post a query on www.munster-express.ie or www.limerickpost.ie?

Local memories can go back a long way, so there may be someone who reads your query who might be of help.
