What was the religion of your Speers' family? I assume Hugh, James and Joseph all stayed in Co. Down? The Griffiths Valuation data from 1860 shows a number of Spears/Speers data including two Hugh Speers records in Kilkeel civil parish, could be the same person with two plots. Also a Hugh Spears in Annahilt civil parish.

Hi Alex,

In Down baptismal records I found the family of a Hugh Speers that includes children Hugh and James, but their years do not match the years you have.  The family lived in Ballylintoch townland.  All the children were baptized in Anahilt Presbyterian Church. There were several children, as follows. The mother's name was not provided.
