I have records for family members born in Dublin. Two of them were baptized Protestant and two were baptized Catholic. All records found indicate that they were baptized in St. Nicholas Without. Are there two different churches by the same name - one Catholic and one Protestant? I am confused!

Yes, there are/were two churches, one RC (Francis Street) and one Church of Ireland called St. Nicholas Without in Dublin. There is also a St. Nicholas Within Church of Ireland parish.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was going crazy when I had people baptized Protestant and Catholic in what I believed was the same church! This makes more sense. Thans for your response
