I would like to know how I can find a list of people who were in the Strabane Workhouse between 1864-1870. My 2nd great grandmother Jane (nee Gordon) Woods lived in this Workhouse after my 2nd great grandfather, James Woods died in 1864. She thre children with her, two boys and one girl. Their names were Sarah Woods, James Woods, and John Woods.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Jocelyn,
According to this link, the admission records for Strabane workhouse exist for the years 1862 – 1921. The records are in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. They are not on-line so a personal visit is required to view them. If you are unable to go yourself, you could employ a researcher. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net

PRONI is closed at present due to Covid but hopefully will re-open in the next few months.

Hello Jocelyn
Just a note to let you know PRONI has now reopened. It is appointment based only, just in case you have a researcher in mind. You may also wish to contact the Strabane HIstorical Society- just Google for their Facebook page - their members have extensive knowledge on the region and publish articles regularly.
