Timothy and Biddy lived in Baunmore Erke Co Kilkenny.  They had 9 Children  Ellen, Micheal, James,  Patrick (my GGrandfather who came to Australia in 1869  at the age of 21), Timothy, Judith, Mary and William.  His brother Micheal's family stayed in Ireland and live not far from Baunmore. 

Biddy's maiden name was Hely, and I wondered if she may be related to the Hely family from Foulkscourt lands and castle around Johnstown.  

My DNA has linked me to people in the US with Bergins from Johnstown in their trees. I have discovered that a Mary Gorman (1855-?) possibly Patricks sister comes up as married to a Martin Bergin from this area, though there was also a Stephen Bergin who married a Mary Gorman in the Johnstown area as well. 

Some of the family may have emigrated to America

These links and names are slowly coming together, but the records are scarce and the similiar christian and surnames make it difficult to confirm.

If any one from this area has any history or Knowledge of families of Baunmore and Johnstown  in particular, I would love to hear from them.

    I'm not local so I can't help you with local knowledge, I did search on the subscription site Roots Ireland and located some of the baptismal records for the children, The records were in Johnstown RC parish.

    James 1846 Patrick 1848 Timothy 1850 Mary 1855 Timothy 1858 William 1861 (likely the 1850 Timothy died young). Here is the link to the parish register. You may want to look for the record for Judith. Possibly the older two children Ellen and Michael were baptized in another parish which does not have records available.

    I did know those dates.  I will look for Judith in the parish records.  Are there any Volunteers from the Johnstown or Baunmore area. I feel this could  help with local names and families.
