I am looking for descendants of the Daughters of Michael Tracy and Ann Kinnally who were married in Templemore parish in February 1823. The ladies names were Mary born 1823, Ellen born 1828 and Nancy, born in 1832.

Doug:
Civil registration of Roman Catholic marriages started in 1864 so we have to work with available church records..
I looked at the subscription site Roots Ireland and focused on Templemore RC records only on the assumption that the family was living in Templemore parish and marriages almost always occurred in the bride's parish.
There were many Treacy marriages in Templemore. In fact, there are too many (eight) Mary Treacy marriages in the 1840s into the 1850s to give you a lead. For Ellen Treacy and Anne (Nancy is a variant of Anne) Treacy there was one possibility for each name in Templemore.
February 19 1855 William Donnellan to Ellen Treacy
April 25 1857 Jeremiah Cormack to Anne Treacy

Hello Roger
Thank you for your prompt response to my inquiry. I will follow up on the marriage information to see what I can find. I found the Ann/Nancy connection interesting as I had not heard that before but have encountered it. In the Templemore Parish Baptism records (NLI) for the 1820's and 1830's Ann is referred to by both names. The Parrish Marriage record (12 FEB 1823) recorded her as Mary.
My interest in descendants of the Ladies is an attempt to establish a connection in Ireland. There were two sons in the family, in between the girls. They emmigrated to the United States in the 1850's and eventually settled in Iowa. Michael, the younger of the two, was my wife's GGrandfather. His eldest son, Michael, my wife's Grandfather, moved to Canada in the early 1900's.
Thank you again for the information, anything else that surfaces would be greatly appreciated. If you require more detail regarding the sons feel free to send me a message.
Take care
Doug

Dear Margot
Thank you for the information. That is quite a distance. Was a moving that far common in the early 1800's?
I first found the information listed in a Tracy Family site. They showed locations as Skehanna and Buggane with the word "Killavinoge" in brackets after each entry. When I searched Killavinogit in google maps it indicated a location about 8km from Templemore. Could this possibly be a refernce to local lanmarks?

Hi,
Killavinoge is the Parish, Skehanagh and Buggoun (other spellings) are townlands.
Templemore is the town, Ikerrin is the Barony, most people say Templemore.
Townlands........they are like 2 blocks in the USA.
These names change depending on which site you look at, some are the local names.
Eg. My family were from Athlacca, which is under Dromin, which is Kilmallock, which is the Diocese of Killaloe.
But the registration of BDM comes under Newcastle West.
My Tracey people are from the Cloughjordon area.
If you zoom out on this map you will see where it is.
Killavinoge Townland, Co. Tipperary (townlands.ie)
You say Michael went to the USA, was it Chicago?
Canada, did anyone marry a Butler?

Hi Margot; Happy Easter
Thank you very much for this explanation. It will make it easier for me as I have struggled with the location references. Until recently I was unaware of Michael and Ann. Our beginning was Michael and Thomas landing in the United States, knowing only that they were from Tipperary. I did search in the Cloughjordan, Modreeny area because there was a Thomas and a Michael listed in the same location. Using Michael and Ann for reference I found the information that I have quoted, on this site, "www.traceyclann.com/files/Tipperary2.htm" . You may have seen in an earlier post possible marriage information for daughters Ellen and Anne. I will try to follow up on that, hopefully with positive results.
Michael and Thomas lived in New York State for a brief period of time, moving from there to LaSalle County Illinois, SW of Chicago and finally to Cherokee County, Iowa. His children, with the exception of Michael remained in Iowa and Minnesota. Michael moved to Canada and settled in southern Saskatchewan. There were no Buttlers in that generation and none in our branch of the Family up to today.
Thank you again for your assistance. Should you find more information or require further detail please advise.
