Hello!

My name is Kimberly Madden, off due to COVID, so spending some rare free time tracking my heritage. This has led me to this board. What I have found so far through the Ancestry.com site is this:

My Great Grandfather was John J. Madden (b. 1890 Texas -d. 1936 Texas), He was married to Nancy Hashaw.

GG Grandfather, Delbert Madden (b. 1867 Texas -1928 Texas), He was married to Nancy Adeline Smith.

GGG Grandfather John Franklin Madden (b. 1829 Georgia - d. 1870 Texas), He was married to Margaret Jane Hutto.

GGGG Grandfather Michael Madden (b.1804 Galway -d.1881, Alabama). I'm using Ancestry.com and it shows Michael was married to Lenora Conahy (1805-1850). I believe I saw another member post that he was married to Mary Jane Carswell? Maybe he was married twice? I get lost on Ancestry.com!

Ancestry show a potential path from Michael to his father, potential GGGGG Grandfather, John Madden (b. 1780 Clontuskert, County Galway- d. 1865 Portumna, County Galway). John shows to be married to a Bridget Quinn (est b. 1784).

John leads to a potential path to a possible GGGGGG Grandfather, Walter Madden, possibly John's father, Michael's grandfather, (est. b. 1763).

That's as far as I have gotten without major chancing the 'hints' from Ancestry. I tried looking at the Lenora Conahy line and didn't get far. I haven't looked into the Margaret Jane Hutto mentioned in another member's post.

Any tidbits or leads would be welcome!

Oh, I did the DNA from Ancestry and show this (my Mom was from South Korea, so this makes total sense in the distribution):

  • Korea & Northern China 48%
    • South Korea
  • England, Wales & Northwestern Europe 29%
  • Ireland & Scotland 13%
  • Norway 3%
  • Germanic Europe 3%
  • Japan 3%
    • Japan
  • Basque 1%

Thanks so much!

Kimberly

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and there were no Michael Madden baptismal records in Co. Galway around 1804 with father John. There were also no Madden/Conahy marriage records. Very few (two) RC parishes in Co. Galway have records back to 1804.

You could add Michael Madden to our XO Chronicles site and possibly someone will see a connection. https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database
