I am interested in knowing how families acquired a section of a bog for cutting turf. Would it have been passed down through the family? Is there a plan of the bog showing family names?

Patience,
Google: Turbary Rights. There is detail by Karen Walsh: Know your Turbary Rights before a days work on the Bogs - 2018.
Karen Walsh is a Solicitor who gives a detailed explanation on the subject.
Credit: Irish Examiner.

Patience,
I don't know about Tipperary, but in my home townland in County Galway the distribution of sections of bog is shown in the Valuation Office 'cancelled' books. These are not available on the internet (yet, hopeully) and can be accessed at the Valuation Office in Abbey Street Dublin. They are a wonderful resource.
Best wishes, Kieran

Thank you Kieran , I'm hoping to make a return visit to the Valuation Office, so will include 'Cancelled Books' in my research! Patience
