Eva, I am having difficulty finding your ancestors. Horsemount and Ballinagree are close together, north-east of Macroom. I found only one marriage but it maybe is not correct becasue Matthew is over in Ballyvourney and Ellen's surname is different. I have attached it.
One reason it is so difficult is that Ellen and her siblings are too recent to be in the database. The births don't go into the 1920s.
I looked up the census for 1901 and 1911 and I cannot find Matthew either in Horsemount or Kilcorney. However, I found a Matthew Twomey with a father John in Knockanure , Ballyvourney. He was 26 in 1911, so would have been 37 when he married.
What do you think? could you have some of the names and places wrong? Could Matthew have come over to Horsemount to farm and then met Ellen?

I think that's perfectly feasible that he moved into the area I don't really have any idea apart from my grandmothers birth certificate, it stated where she was born and who her parents were. On her birth certificate it does say that her father came from horseMount but whether or not he was born there I'm not sure.
he could've been born there moved away and then moved back when he was older.
thank you for looking up the records for me very much appreciated.

I am also looking for Twomeys and the names you have are common in our family. Our Matthew Twomey married Ellen Lehane probably in the 1830s. The children I know of are Ellen Moya born about 1842, Michael born about 1847, Johanna about 1850, Hanora about 1852 and Mary about 1855. Ellen came to Australia in the 1860s - she is my husband's great-grandmother - married in Melbourne, went to New Zealand where the children were born and came to Western Australia where she died in 1932. Johanna and Michael also went to New Zealand.
The family lived at Leadawillin near Macroom and some of the children were baptised at Aghabulloge.
I would love to know what became of the others. We visited in 2017 and found their property and the old church. We will be returning in August and are hoping to find something more about the family who remained in the area.
