  • Doc:

RC church records for Roundstone do not begin until 1872.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Moyrus civil parish (which includes Roundstone) shows only one Cassidy record (no McMahon records). Bernard Cassidy was leasing land in Derryadd West townland. Possibly this is your Bernard.   https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/galway/moyrus.htm

  • Doc,

We've stayed in Heather Lodge near Clifden, not far from Roundstone:

  • Hi Doc

Did the emigrant records give any indication of professions / Farmers / Publicans etc. Whilst there may not be Birth / Death records, Death records online after 1871 may help. McMahons in Carna in those times, half hour by car. Businesses still there today.

If any cancellation on my airbnb will keep you in mind.

  • Hi Gerard and thanks for the reply. It's possibe in 1855 Bernard Cassidy was a farmer, leasing land at Derryadd (accoridng to Griffiths Valuation). Thanks for the possible B&B. Regards, Greg.
