Just learned that my great-grandfather was born Joseph Walsh around 1848 to a Thomas Walsh and Ellen Bright in Sligo (possibly in Keash). I have search RootsIrealnd.ie and Ancestry.com but am not finding anything that ties in with these dates and names.
Looking for help in finding another resource to use.
Thanks much!

The village of Keash would be in the RC parish of Drumrat. The baptismal records for that parish start in 1843 but there is a gap in records from June 1847 until September 1852. Here is a link to the parish register for Drumrat https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0130?locale=en
If James was born in 1848, a baptismal record would not be available.

You might be interested in the Keash/Culfadda townland project:

Perhaps someone in the project would have info about the Walshes.

In 1858, there were four heads of household named Bright in Griffith’s Valuation of Sligo.
There were two heads of household called Ellen Walsh:
There were 40 named Thomas Walsh:

Is this record your relative? It is a death registration in the city of Springfield Massachusetts. Entry 594 August 5th. 1896 Joseph Welch aged 48 yrs, Father Thomas Welch and Ellen Bright. (Ireland)

There is no evidence that the family came from Sligo (unless you have more information to that effect), so to give yourself the best chance to make a connection then perhap's you should broaden your search to all counties until there is more definite information.

@Roger McDonnell and @Patricia: Thanks so much for this information!
@Eileen: Yes, this is my great-grandfather. It is where I learned my gggrandmother's maiden name ... but have never been able to find her birth or marriage records nor find any of her family.

Hi,
In the 1901 Irish census, Bright families lived in just three townlands in Sligo:
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=1…
This may indicate that Ellen's family had lived in one of the three townlands.
