I am searching for a John Flanagan convicted of Sheep stealing in 1836 at Wicklow. He needs to have had 8 children and be a butcher. See Photo. I would like to connect him to my 4th Great grandfather, John Flanagan, a butcher in Goulburn (1801-1859).
I have nominated Tuam as an area of interest because in 1837 his daughter Margaret Flanagan was ( apparently) born in Tuam. (On another platform she is labelled MVVB-D4Q.) Interestingly, some other branches of my family came from Tuam too and this was discussed on this site in 2018 ' Connelly from Barnaderg"
Thanks for assisting with making this hidden connection to a convict past. Regards Viv in NSW

John Flanagan, sheep stealer, was a native of County Laois (previously Queen's Co.). Tuam is quite a distance from Laois, so he may not be a match for your ancestor. But more research/details would be needed to confirm this.

Thank you for providing the details about your search for a John Flanagan convicted of sheep stealing in 1836 in Wicklow, who had 8 children and was a butcher, potentially connecting him to your 4th great-grandfather John Flanagan, a butcher in Goulburn from 1801-1859.
Unfortunately, without access to more comprehensive historical records, it is challenging to definitively make a connection between these two individuals based solely on the limited information provided.
