Welcome to the Military Ancestors Special Group

Many of our Irish ancestors have military connections, both in Ireland and abroad. This Special Group has been created to connect descendants of persons with military experiences and to provide a forum for discussing genealogical information relating to those experiences.

You may have a question relating to the Irish military, or about your Irish ancestors who served in the foreign military. As always, our IrelandXO volunteer network and other members of our community will do their best to help answer any queries and give guidance so that you can discover more about your Irish ancestors.

If you have just joined this group and want to say "Hi", please reply to this message. If you have a specific query, please feel free to post a new message. All messages can also be linked to other groups (ie. Counties and Civil Parishes). 

Don't forget to add your ancestor's profile to the Chronicles of this group and if you have added your ancestor in the past, check to see if we have tagged them to this group. If they are not mentioned in the Ancestor Chronicles of this group, you can edit your ancestor directly and link him or her to this special group.
