My great-great-great-grandparents are Patrick Fay, born in Ireland in 1816, and Mary Vizard, born in Ireland in 1820. They were in Ontario by about 1848 when their daughter, Mary, was born. They were in Michigan in the 1850 census.
My great-great-grandfather is William O'Brien, born in 1848 in Ireland. He was in Michigan by 1865 when he married Mary Fay in Detroit. I am really stuck on this one since there are so many William O'Briens, and I don't know who his parents are.
I would love to find the places they came from and meet my Irish relatives.

There is for example a Mary Vizard born in 1821 county Longford that you could check out.
William O' Brien will be a difficult one indeed this name is very common in the whole of Ireland, the best advise I can give you is to gather as much information possible from Michigan and Detroit.
A quick search gives me 28 results for William O'Brien born in 1848 and these are the recorded transcribed records there could be more that we do not know of .
His marriage certificate might give his fathers name that could help you at least one step further, death certificates could also be very helpfull.
