  • The name is not familiar. I descend from James Griffith b. 1811 who,was a brother to Lewis b. 1790 who married Elizabeth Budds. WhatI do know is that in 1798 there were 4 Protestant families in Mothell Parish. by 1800 there were 44. This was documented by the minister in a report to his bishop.

i have reason to beleive one of these was a Mathew Griffith b. 1740 who came from Fenagh in Co. Carlow. Other spots in Carlow include Tullow (also called Tullowcreen) and Leighlin. I will have a look in my data and see what else I can find. These folks did not travel alone.

  • Good day. Not certain I can help, but we did a DNA test and matched a REDMOND in Washington state, they did a genealogical search for their grandfather's family. We matched DNA so we are by blood related. I have been searching for Robert WIlliam Redmond's origins. The information I have is of him in South Carolina in 1844, and nothing prior that proves to be his lineage. Since you are searching for a William and I am searching for Robert Wiliam I thought this link might help you.

This is from our match in Washington to their grandfather George Redmond. http://ancestryireland.com/index.php?id=1075

  • That totally confused me as the title of your post is William Redmond and you talk about Griffith. What is the connection to William Redmond?
