The National Library of Ireland has been archiving the Irish web since 2011. This year, as part of NLI2016, the National Library’s programme for 2016, they are collecting 400 websites that focus on the commemorations of 1916 and life in Ireland in 2016.

Everyone has a part to play in nominating websites this year. Whether you are involved in a community commemorative group, or are part of our diaspora, the NLI want to hear what matters to you.

They are asking you to nominate websites under the following two categories:

  • What website best remembers the events of 1916?

  • What website best records Irish life in 2016?

The top five websites nominated in each category will be announced in December 2016 and will be archived and made available through the National Library’s Web Archive.  John Concannon, Director of Ireland 2016, will independently verify the results.

The call for suggestions will run between the 7th-28th November 2016 inclusive.

You can submit your suggestions at: HERE

The Remembering 1916, Recording 2016 web archiving project has been made possible by support from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Ireland2016 Centenary Programme.
