Garden of Remembrance

When: Saturday, 14 March, 2015

The Garden was officially opened in 1966 on the fiftieth anniversary of the 1916 Rising. It is located on the site of the pleasure gardens of the Rotunda Hospital, where the leaders of 1916 were held before being transferred to Kilmainham Jail.

Liam Mellows and His Stay in Knockjames Mountain, Ballyoughtra

Liam Mellows (1895-1922) was an Irish Republican and Sinn Fein politician.  He was born in England, but grew up in County Wexford.  He was involved in nationalist politics from a young age and he was active in the Irish Republican Brotherhood and a Founding member of the Irish Volunteers.
