Ireland XO Insight - what did your ancestors do?

While it is a generalisation, most of our ancestors worked on the land and their occupations as 'farmer' or 'labourer' reflected the agricultural character of the community. The rural community was one where people worked in their own parishes and rarely strayed beyond.

Leonie knew that John Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Rourke and Garrett Barry emigrated aboard the Golconda to New Zealand. John and Elizabeth married in New Zealand in 1862.

Visiting Whitechurch

Helen hoped to visit the resting place of her Co. Down ancestors, Alexander Stevenson and Elizabeth Rainey, and their daughter, Eliza buried at the Whitechurch Graveyard, Ballywalter.
