Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society 2020
Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society 2020, is certainly making History in our world and like so many other clubs, it has been strange one for Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society. Sadly, for the first time since our formation in 2013, we have had to cancel most of our meetings and our activities have suffered the fate of all other gatherings due to the ongoing pandemic. Our leading project each year is our annual journal. Fortunately, due to the lockdown our writers have had more time to put pen to paper and help us produce our largest publication to date.
This year we have reached our seventh edition, no small achievement for any local rural publication, and it continues to go from strength-to-strength. Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society 2020 is overflowing with 150 pages of stories and photos from days gone by. It contains a wide variety of articles, research, memory cards and graveyard inscriptions. It includes reviews from the local Clonakenny GAA and ICA clubs and articles from Roscrea Heritage Society as they celebrate twenty-one years of Roscrea Miscellany.
This year we feature the river Nore, with articles on the river from Scoil Mhuire Lismackin 5th & 6th class pupils and photos throughout the book including the cover of the book, courtesy of Michael Ryan. This Historical Journal is unique, the stories are local and rural with no advertisements throughout, its packed with History from the parish and surrounding areas. We thank and appreciate all who contributed to this publication in any way.
The Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society 2020 publication will be available from Mulrooney’s Gala Roscrea, and Templemore, Colclough's SuperValu Roscrea, Teresa’s Shop and Deli (The Auburn Lounge) Roscrea, Centra, Carrig Road Service Station, Roscrea (John Carroll), The Norebrook Longe Clonakenny, Moloney’s main St Roscrea and any committee member.
