Croagh Patrick or "the Reek" as it is locally known is a site of devotion and pilgrimage, most especially on the last Friday of July when Pilgrims climb to the top.
A visitor centre and toilets are available at the base of the mountain and directly opposite is the Famine Commemoration Park. Many people climb to the St. Patrick's statue near the base rather than the 3-4 hour trek to the top.
