Do you have any more information James and Rebecca? Most important is a specific place of origin preferably a parish. Most Irish record sources- church records, land records, census records- are based on specific locations. Until you know a specific location within Ireland, usually a parish, it may be difficult to do anything more with these records.

Do you know their religious occupation? Did the couple emigrate? If so ,what do you know about their emigration?

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

On a side note however, please be aware that sometimes it can be difficult to find information going back that far in Ireland as the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. However, hopefully you may be lucky and someone may be able to help you once you provide more information.
