I am trying to find out the roots of my great, great grandmother Elizabeth Campbell. She was born in 1876, in Belfast. She married in New Zealand in 1893 to William Barrow. They had three daughters. I have no clues about her parents/childhood. Thank you in advance. Kerry Burton.

Her father may be James Campbell, married to Charlotte Logan. Siblings James/born 1867, Robert/born 1870 and Sarah/born 1872. Thanks. Kerry.

Elizabeth Campbell is a very common name in Ireland. There are 468 in the 1901 Irish census. So without some clues as to parents names from New Zealand sources it would be very easy to choose the wrong family.
There were 13 people of that name born, in what is now Northern Ireland, in 1876. There was one born in Belfast on 26.4.1876, mother?s maiden name Skeffington; another 27.11.1876 mothers mn Sailes, another on 21st Dec 1876 mothers mn Miller. None in 1876 with mothers mn Logan.
There was an Elizabeth Campbell with mother?s mn Logan born 17.9.1875, in Belfast. That seems the most probable match to the family you have suggested. The parents married in Belfast on 27.7.1858. You can view the birth & marriage cert on-line on the GRONI site for ?2 each. Use the search registrations option.

Hi Kerry
There is a record of the birth of Elizabeth Campbell with same parents as you have suggested on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site):
Other children to this couple: James 1 May 1867 St Anne's Shankill C of I
Robert 4 May 1870 6 Charles St saqme parish as Eliz; Sara 26 Dec 1872
There is a marriage record of James & Charlotte
James aged 25 in 1858 so born 1833 father Robert
Regrettably there is no record for this combination in Antrim but there are others in other northern counties.
Charlotte aged 23 in 1858 so born 1835 father Samuel
There is a baptism record for Charlotte: 27 Sep 1833 St Annes Shankill father Samuel mother Elizabeth Robinson; I couldn't find this marriage

Thank you SO much for this new information - it all seems to fit.
Is there any record of the family coming to New Zealand, via England, on the ship Awara, arriving in New Zealand June 1888?
I await your repy with appreciation.
Kind regards,
Kerry.

Couldn't find it on ancestry so you might have to play around on google for it.
Try Family Search New Zealand Archives Passenger Lists 1839 to 1973 - it has 5,501 Elizabeth Campbells!
