Looking for relatives of Thomas Bryans born about 1845 and his wife Margaret Boyle born about 1851.  They had 9 children, Annie, William, Robert, Mary, Andrew, Jeane, John, Thomas and James.  One of the children is my grandfather.  He moved to the U.S. about 1912.  I am looking for any children or grandchildren offspring from the original 9 kids that may still live in Ireland.  Thomas and Margaret were married in the Church of Antrim, Northern Ireland.  According to the 1911 census their address was 173 North East Division, Carrickfergus.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The number 173 was the enumerator?s private numbering system and doesn?t relate to any postal address. North East Division is the townland that the family lived in. It?s quite a large area consisting of 3300 acres.

Griffiths revaluation records shows that Thomas Bryans had plot 4a in North East Division. That was a farm, outbuildings and 40 acres, 3 roods and 10 perches, making it a valuable farm by Irish standards. He owned it outright (ie he wasn?t a tenant). He appears to have bought it in 1905. Plot 4a is on the modern Carneal Rd, between the Reformed Presbyterian (aka Covenanter) church and graveyard and Lough Rd. Should be easy enough to find today, should you wish to do so.

PRONI have a probate file for a Thomas Bryans, probate granted in 1919.  It?s not clear whether it?s your family or not.
