The Hope ancestry is thoroughly documented back to Capt. Henry Hope of "Castle Oglis", Lurgill, Roses Lane Ends, Ballinderry, born circa 1669. He married Elizabeth Vernon, daughter of James Vernon, Secretary of State to William III. She was disowned for eloping with Capt. Hope. They are both buried at Middle Church.

Capt. Henry and Elizabeth had a son, George, who married Grizzell Hunter and lived at Castle Oglis. George and Grizzell are buried at Middle Church. George and Grizzell had six children, Anthony, Edward, Elizabeth, Sarah, Henry, 1737-1815. and Vernon. Henry, (Capt. Henry's son) married (2nd marriage) Mary Martha Higginbotham, granddaughter of Quartermaster Thomas Hoogenboom of Nutfield, Drung, Co. Cavan. They had four children, Mary, Sarah, Anna Rebecca and William Henry(1779-1849). William Henry married(2nd marriage) Elizabeth Nixon of Cork. They had three children, Lily Louisa, Henry William and Edward Nixon. Following William Henry'd death at Oglisses farm, Elizabeth and her two sons, Henry William and Edward Nixon, emigrated to Ohio, USA

Capt. Henry and Elizabeth had another son, John, 1718-1801, who married Esther, 1719-1814. Esther was born at Loughgill. John and Esther lived at Cock Hill and they are buried at Lower Ballinderry Moravian Church.

I am seeking information on Capt. Henry's parents and also the birth date of Elizabeth. Elizabeth had two brothers and one sister, Mary. Mary married Michael Harrison, M.P. for Lisburn, Co. Antrim. Since Capt. Henry was in William's army, I thought there might be a record that would include information on where he was born and on his parents.

I am also seeking information on Capt.Henry's son, George Hope. George married Grizzell Hunter.

There are several Henry's in this family and it is difficult to keep them sorted out.
