Hello

I am researching my ancestor James Bowes.  James was born approx. 1814 in Belfast. James was tried in Dublin 12.7.1834 for picking pockets.  He was sentenced to 7 years gaol and was transported to Australia on the ship Forth 3, where he arrived in Australia 1835.  His occupation was a Bricklayer.  James became a successful Stonemason/Masonry contractor in Queanbeyan NSW.

I would appreciate any information available.

Thank you

Cath Young

  • Hello Elwyn

Thank you for your reply.  James was noted as being Roman Catholic on his marriage certificate.
