My wife is descended from Joseph Gilmore, born 1770 in Killead, County Antrim. Her grandfather, Joseph Edward Gilmore, born 06 Dec 1876 in Ballinderry, County Down, emigrated to the United States and died 14 Jan 1939 in Johnstown, PA. His parents wer Joespeh  Gilmore, 06 Jul1846 in Lower Ballinderry and Anne Jane Keyland born 05 Aug 1844 in Ballinderry. Looking for any surviving relatives in Northern Ireland.

  • I think the Ballinderry in this case is in Co. Antrim rather than Co. Down.

    Here’s Joseph Edward Gilmore’s birth in 1876:

    Siblings Harriett 6.10.1877; Samuel 17.10.1878; William 9.5.1880 & John 4.11.1881.

Father was a grocer and publican in Ballymacrevan, Co Antrim. That’s in the parish of Ballinderry in Co Antrim. The Valuation revision record show him arriving on plot 19 in Ballymacrevan in 1877 and leaving in 1884.

John’s birth certificate mentions that his mother’s name as Anne Jane Gilmour, late Hopes, formerly Keyland. So she was presumably a widow when she married Jospeh.

Anne Jane Keyland married Edward Hopes on 24.12.1866 regd Lisburn. She then married Joseph Gilmore in Belfast on 18.10.1876 at Malone Presbyterian church. Her father is named as Samuel Kane, so not sure how many times she was married.

I see a marriage for Harriette Gilmore on 3.1.1912 to Robert McCreary of Leggygowan, Co. Down. Harriette in 1911:

    Here’s Robert McCreery in 1901 & 1911:

Here’s Robert’s probate abstract. His will should be held in PRONI in paper format. They will copy it for you for a fee or it’s free to view if you can go in person:

McCreery Robert of Mill Hill Saintfield county Down farmer died 23 July 1934 Probate Belfast 13 September to Harriett Thompson McCreery the widow. Effects £943 1s. 2d.

Thanks so much for the feedback. The attached is where we had gotten the information on Kathleen's grandfather and other ancestors. We're visiting England, Scotland and Ireland in June and formulating our itinerary and weren't sure if anydistant relatives still lived in the vicinity of Belfast.
