I am looking for James McCort who was born between 1793 and 1803 in Fermanagh, Ireland. He came to Havelock, Quebec and married Elizabeth Emmerson in Montreal. Elizabeth was born in 1823 also in Fermanagh, Ireland. They were both Protestants. Unfortunately that is all the information I have.

Possibly the spelling of the surname was McCourt. Finding baptismal records back to 1823 and earlier is very difficult. This site may be of some assistance  http://www.igp-web.com/Fermanagh/Links.htm

You may want to post the story of James and Elizabeth to our XO Chronicles site  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

  • A small part of the 1821 census for Co Fermanagh has survived and there is 1 James McCort in it of about the right age. Whether it is your James I have no way of knowing without more information:

You really need James parents names from a marriage or death certificate to be certain of finding the right family. If James was Protestant then, in Fermanagh, he was probably Church of Ireland. Not all Church of Ireland records for Fermanagh go back to the early 1800s. Some were lost in the 1922 fire in Dublin. In addition not all those that have survived are on-line. The most complete collection for Fermanagh is in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. However a personal visit is required to access them.
