I am searching for documents relating to Patrick McClernan, (McLernan) who was Catholic and claimed to be from Belfast. He was likely born about 1830, emigrating to the US in about 1850, likely with older brother John, born 1829. He married Catherine Dailey (born 1835) from Tynan, Co Armagh in 1853 in Ithaca NY. The couple had homesteaded in Wabasha Co, Minnesota by 1858 and eventually had 13 children. Patrick died in 1889 in Minnesota.

  • Thanks Col--I don't know about the illegitimate John, since there are only 5 months between his and Patrick's baptisms. Thanks for doing the search.

  • I hop you get this message, but I am interested in your connection with the McClernon family.  My ggrandfather sister was married to a McClernon where after his wife died she moved to the US in Independance, Iowa.  They were had a harness business.  You are welcomed to reach me at hppy1kat@yahoo.com.  Thank you for your consideration.
