David Heney and his wife Sarah, nee McAlister, and children migrated to New Zealand in 1859, from Raloo, Co Antrim.

Their descendants have a scattering of information about them, including where they lived near Raloo, and the burial plots of relatives in the Non-Conforming Presbyterian graveyeard.

David was married three times and fathered 27 children. He is buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Cust, near Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand.

David's brother William, migrated on the same ship and made his way to Peel Forest estate where he lived and was buried in the churchyard.
