My 3rd great grandmother was Sarah Smith bc 1822 in County Armagh. She married Peter Smith (yes, she did not have to change surnames!) 14 Feb 1841 in Glasgow. Peter was born in County Monaghan around 1912. His parents were John Smith and Rose McInally/McNally.

My husband and I will be visiting Ireland in the late spring of 2016. I would dearly love to find their parishes.

  • Col, Thank you! I am impressed at your quick response! Are you in Ireland? I am in the USA.

The 1824 birth date is probably more likely as I have several Scotland census records that--put together--indicate a birth year of 1823-1824.

I have some leads for Peter's ancestors at NLI. What a gift to have those RC records digitized! I spent two weeks at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City searching fruitlessly for the two Smiths.

    Again. Thank you.
