I am trying to trace my Great Great Grandfathers family.  They were the McPartlans, McParlands or McPartlands from Armagh.  I don't have any idea where in Armagh although I think his family were either from Forkhill or Killevey.  My Great Great Grandfather was called Michael and was born in 1862.  He came over to England in the early 1880's and married my Great Great Grandmother Catherine Meighan in 1888.  I don't know any of his brothers or sisters but I think his fathers name was James.  I am looking to find out the names of any of his relatives

many thanks

  • Hi again Jacqui

    There are 2 Michael McPartland (or surname variants) 1862 in Armagh on rootsireland

    http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=1&confirmPageView=

    1 is McPartlan & the other McPartland;

    The one spelt McPartlan has father James & the record is from Lower Killeavy Parish

    There are 287 McParland birth baptism records in Armagh with father James!

  • Hi Hossboro,

    I dont know whether you will see this but the people you mentioned are my Great grandparents who came to the NE  of England.We have people in the family with both Mcparland and Mcpartland names so gets confusing.I am guessing by your username you may be from Middlesbrough.If your still looking post a reply.
